Student of FCSE attends Asia-Pacific Model United Nations Conference, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The Asia-Pacific Model United Nations Conference (AMUNC) is an annual travelling Model United Nations conference for university students. Each conference is hosted in a different city within the Asia-Pacific region, attracting approximately 600 students from Asia, the Pacific Islands, Australia and New Zealand, making it one of the largest regional model UN conferences in the world.  These students are selected through a competitive process to be part of this event. The twenty-second session of AMUNC was hosted by Taylor's College and held at a five-star Hotel Istana; strategically located in the very heart of Kuala Lumpur’s prestigious Golden Triangle. The conference was held from July 11-16, encompassed a variety of activities as such expected in a conference of international standards.

Sakhi Mansoor, a student of Computer Engineering at GIK Institute attended this conference.

On his arrival back to Pakistan he says,“I’m so privileged to be a part of this breathtaking event. For the first time I got this versatile opportunity to represent GIK Institute internationally. With no previous public speaking experience, I started this journey without a clue. There were smart diplomatic people standing before me that made me nervous on the first day. But on the last day, I was molded in a way that how to speak, stand and deal with the delegates and that has made me more confident person and has helped my overall self-esteem.  The best part of AMUNC was making lifetime friends and knowing the world culture around us. The six days long conference gave me a lot of exposure which would be a vital part of my career. I still remember this last phrase I’ve said in my farewell speech of committee “I want to do this for the rest of my life.”  As I’m being the Event Coordinator of SOPHEP I would love to implement the ideas in GIMUN’16 that could be ample experience for my community.

Thank you so much GIK Institute and honorable Rector Jehangir Bashar for the generous financial and moral support which made it possible for me to avail this wonderful opportunity. This trip wouldn’t have been possible without you.“
