Faculty of Mechanical Engineering – Isotherm, INC. USA further Strengthen Research Collaborations

Faculty of Mechanical Engineering – Isotherm, INC. USA research collaboration goes back to 2007 when Natural Fluids Refrigeration Center (NFRC) was first established. As a testimony of faith in research capabilities of FME, Dr Zahid Ayub, President Isotherm, INC, USA visited FME GIK Institute once again on 12th April 2015 and donated a Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger worth US $ 6000 for continuing research at NFRC, FME GIK Institute.

Dr. Zahid Ayub held wide ranging discussion with the Pro-Rector Academic, Dean FME, faculty members and the students. He visited NFRC laboratory and briefed the faculty members and graduate students about the donated equipment and future research to be carried out. Dr. Zahid appreciated the modern facilities and research in the FME, GIK Institute.

As there is not much design data available in the open literature for natural refrigerants such as ammonia, carbon dioxide and hydrocarbons; through this facility, efforts will be made to provide a better solution in the designing of the natural fluid based heat exchangers. Mr. Ahmad Abbas, graduate assistant, would be utilizing the new equipment for experiments on direct expansion evaporation of ammonia with inlet quality and exit superheat during his PhD research under the supervision of Prof. Javed A. Chattha.

Dr. Zahid also held a meeting with Mr. Abdul Hussain, cregistration no. 20144005, a freshman in BS Materials Engineering Program and recipient of coveted Ayub memorial Scholarship.

On behalf of GIK Institute, Prof Javed A. Chattha, Pro Rector Academic, and Dr. S. M. Ahmad, Dean FME, thanked him for the generous support for further strengthening research at FME, GIK Institute.
